School Board Candidates to Hold Public Meet and Greets

With the Nov. 8 Board of Education election four weeks away, candidates for the school board are making a push to engage voters.

The election for three of five Board of Education seats is a month away and all four candidates are kicking their campaigns into high gear with multiple public events.

Board Vice President , lawyer , educator/producer and write-in candidate are competing in the Nov. 8 election. Another candidate, Traffic and Parking Commissioner Andy Licht, has , but by law his name and candidate statement must appear on the ballot.

Brian Goldberg has two public coffee-and-dessert events scheduled.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. there is a coffee hosted by Leon and Rochelle Brooks, and Ivan and Sara Brooks at 1100 Laurel Way. RSVP to Sara via email.
  • Sunday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. there is a coffee hosted by Sonal and Ashish Kapur, and Robert and Leslie Sternshein at 135 N. Stanley Drive. RSVP to Sonal at 310-657-8045.

Frances Bilak also has two upcoming events scheduled.

  • Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. there is a coffee hosted by Yigal and Lillian Hay at 9734 Wendover Drive. RSVP with the Hays at 310-277-2141.

Lewis Hall is holding four public meet-and-greet sessions. 

  • Mondays until election day from 9-11 a.m. at Le Pain Quotidien, 9630 S. Santa Monica Boulevard. No RSVP is necessary.

Noah Margo, who faces the task of educating the public on how to vote for a write-in candidate, has four events scheduled. 

  • Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. hosted by Oreet and Steve Smith, Julie Gilberg, Mandi Dyner, Alyson Lipper, Denise Geller and Sara Brooks at 435 S. Camden Drive.
  • Sunday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. hosted by Rose and Scott Kaiserman, Leslie and Evan Pinchuk, and Judy and Fred Gluckman at 527 N. Rexford Drive.
  • Monday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. hosted by Hamid and Maryam Halimi, and Dorothy Weiss at 200 N. Swall Drive in the recreation room.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. hosted by Victor and Nancy Moss at 226 S. McCarty Drive.
