Metro Releases Purple Line Extension 2014 Schedule

Transportation agency does not believe Beverly Hills' multiple lawsuits will slow progress to complete first phases for Century City and Westwood stations.

Metro held a meeting in late October outlining its anticipated progress for 2014 with the Purple Line Extension, reports CurbedLA, which aims to bring the first 3.9-mile rail phase work to the eastern edge of Beverly Hills.

New stations will be created at Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega.

Metro adds it expects the first phase of work to be complete by 2022 and hopes to speed up its schedule to get to the later phases in Century City and Westwood.

Beverly Hills is fighting to stop the proposed subway from being routed under Beverly Hills High School, and hired new attorneys in June in its legal battle with Metro. Despite the multiple lawsuits over the proposed Century City station, the transportation agency reportedly is not worried about its progress to complete the first phase.

In 2016, Metro plans to bring giant boring machines on Wilshire to the edge of Beverly Hills.

The City Council was notified by Metro in September of drilling along Wilshire Boulevard to locate tieback anchors in the ground.
