Metro Drills on Wilshire for the Purple Line Extension

Work crews drill to locate tieback anchors as part of the Westside Subway Extension.

Metro contractors began necessary drilling on Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills for the first phase of the Westside Subway Extension, reports the agency's The Source blog.

The City Council was notified of the drilling in September. Concerns were expressed for how long the drilling may impact nearby residents.

The tieback anchors are horizontal wires used to support buildings and other structures. The attached photos was taken by Metro near Beverly Drive and Le Doux Road.

The first phase of the subway project will extend the Purple Line for 3.9 miles from Wilshire/Western to Wilshire/La Cienega and is forecast to open in 2023.
