Update: Fatal Stabbing in Trousdale Estates

The Beverly Hills Police Department is on the hunt for a killer responsible for the stabbing death of a man Tuesday in Trousdale Estates in a scene that  L.A. County Coroner Ed Winter described as "very bloody."

At approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, Beverly Hills patrol officers responded to an "unknown trouble" call on the 1800 block of Carla Ridge, according to BHPD Sgt. Shan Davis. 

"Officers arrived to find a male victim in front of the residence who had been assaulted by an unknown assailant," Davis said. "Officers set up a containment area in an attempt to locate and apprehend the suspect, who had reportedly fled the scene on foot."

Wire reports say the victim had been stabbed.

Because of the large size of the search area and the rugged terrain involved, K-9 teams from the Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Culver City and Glendale police departments were used, Davis said. The search was called off at about 2 p.m., according to wire reports.

Tuesday afternoon, BHPD Lt. Michael Hill said he was "confident the suspect is no longer in the vicinity."

The assault occurred in front of a multimillion dollar home. A suspect described as being 20-something was reportedly seen scaling a fence at the estate, where the victim was found facedown, according to wire reports.

Beverly Hills Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released because of the dynamic nature of the investigation and the need to notify next of kin, Davis said.
