Police Blotter: Home Burglaries and a Store Robbery

Four homes on North Doheny Drive are reportedly visited by a thief.

The weather may be turning, but that doesn't stop criminals from taking to our streets. This list reminds us that sometimes committing a crime is as easy as cutting through a screen, so remember to shut your windows. Also keep an eye out on your neighbors' homes—four houses on one block were hit during a recent crime wave.

Weekend burglary

Between Sept. 24-27, someone entered a home in the 1200 block of Monte Cielo Drive. The suspect is believed to have cut through the lock on the gate and chain surrounding the property. About $4,450 worth of items were reportedly stolen.

Walk in break-in

During the afternoon of Sept. 27, someone entered a back bedroom through an unlocked rear door on a home in the 500 block of North Rexford Drive. The bedroom was ransacked and an unknown amount of property was stolen.

Quadruple hit on North Doheny

Between Sept. 28-29, multiple homes in the 400 block of North Doheny Drive were burglarized. One household reported a loss of $635 when someone possibly used a pass key to enter the residence and remove property. Two other victims reported unknown losses when someone used a sharp object to cut through screens on their homes' rear windows. Another home in the same block had its living room window screen cut but reported no losses.

Back door man

During the morning of Sept. 29, a residence was burglarized in the 100 block of South Almont Drive. Someone pried open the home's rear French doors and removed $300 worth of property.

Worker takes a hit 

Just after 2 p.m. Oct. 1, a store in the 9500 block of Wilshire Boulevard was robbed. The suspect—described as being 6-feet tall and weighing 155 pounds—was attempting to steal merchandise when he was confronted by an employee. The suspect then hit the employee in the chest and fled the scene with the goods, valued at $430.

Watch that display rack

In the early afternoon on Oct. 2, someone took items from a store's display rack in the 9500 block of Brighton Way. The store reported a loss of $1,295.
