Billy Bob Thornton Sells Beverly Hills Estate for $8M

The deal closes for almost $2 million less than the actor's original asking price.

Billy Bob Thornton has sold the Beverly Hills mansion he once shared with ex-wife Angelina Jolie for $8 million, according to the Los Angeles Times

That's almost $2 million less than the $9.995 million the property was listed for when it went on the market in October 2012.

Thornton and Jolie—both Oscar winners—purchased the home from Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash in 2000 for $3.75 million, the Times previously reported. The couple was married from 2000 to 2003. Jolie eventually moved out, but Thornton kept the property.

Located at 801 N. Roxbury Drive, the 11,000-square-foot, 1920's Spanish-style mansion has nine bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, a two-story living room with beamed ceilings, a library, gym, in-home recording studio and much more, according to Zillow.com. The home's listing states that it sits on a 27,000-square-foot lot with a pool, fountains, tennis court and various other outdoor features.

Actually a really good deal for the size of the home and the location. Someone knows how to negotiate. Perfect home on the perfect street great buy. I would never sell if I owned anything on the flats above Santa Monica.

I was amazed that it went for $3.75 million in 2000 and that the value more than doubled this time around. I suppose a lot of money/renovations went into it after BBT moved in?

I don't think so. That's pretty standard gain for that time period. Many houses in that area doubled and even more in that time. He could have got even more but I think he wanted to sell fast and move on. Don't be surprised who ever bought it has to do some remodeling and spend another $1million. $1000+ sq foot is common for this area. I've seen a few sales slowly creeping up even past that.
