A cement truck crashed today on a hilly roadway in Beverly Hills, near where a Los Angeles police officer was killed by an out- of-control dump truck two months ago, authorities said.

The southbound cement truck crashed into several parked vehicles about 11 a.m. on Loma Vista Drive near Drury Lane, Beverly Hills police Sgt. Max Subin said.

The driver was hospitalized in serious condition, Subin said. The cause of the crash was under investigation.

On March 7, LAPD Officer Nicholas Lee, 40, was fatally injured when a dump truck hit his patrol car in the same area, Subin said. Lee's partner survived the crash.

Police have increased commercial vehicle enforcement in the area since the crash that killed Lee and the city is "developing stringent regulations to control truck traffic on high-risk streets through the construction permit process," Subin said, adding that police "share the concerns from the community regarding commercial vehicles traveling in the Trousdale area and surrounding streets."
