Ellen's many years of college admissions work - as well as her constant, ongoing research concerning the field - help her provide unsurpassed experience in every facet of college admissions. Ellen assists students not only with standardized test preparation, but also with the creation of a strategy that renders the best result for each student; Ellen helps students stand out among the crowd through art portfolios, acting reels, short films, and many other aspects of the application. Ellen's flexible, individualized approach aims to recognize the different needs & goals of every family in order to yield excellent results.
Ellen Richards attended Dartmouth College and ultimately graduated with a degree from Wellesley College. She subsequently completed graduate coursework for Masters Degrees in both College Counseling and Child and Adolescent Literacy at Loyola Marymount University.
Ellen collaborated with the Wellesley College admissions office for twenty years. As a student, she dedicated herself to recruiting students who truly had the potential to find their own niche at the college. After graduation, she served as the Wellesley College Los Angeles Admissions Liaison. Her diligent research on evolving trends in college admissions allows her to remain up-to-date on the intricacies of admissions policies, scholarships, and student success rates at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
Ellen serves as a “college admissions expert” on Unigo.com, a site which utilizes the expertise of only the top college counselors on the country. In addition, Ellen serves as the Los Angeles College Bound Expert for Examiner.com and regularly contributes to online and print publications. In 2011 The Feminist Majority Foundation elected Ellen as a member of the advisory board for Girls Learn International (GLI). Most recently, The Young Turks network asked her to serve as an expert college admissions panelist on their show titled The Point.
Ellen serves the Southern California area. She also provides online services.
Ellen is a member of the National Association for College Admissions Counselors (NACAC), the Western Association of College Admissions Counselors (WACAC), the California Association of School Counselors (CASC), the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), the Overseas Association of College Admissions Counselors (OACAC) and the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA).
