Since the Concern Foundation got its start in 1968, it has raised more than $50 million to support and promote cancerMore research and care. The foundation is known for its strong stewardship and the fact that 95 cents out of every dollar collected is put directly to the cause of sustaining progress in the prevention and treatment of cancer. A primarily volunteer organization with 10,000 members, the group has enlisted as many as four generations of families to sustain the mission of finding a cure.

Ms. magazine was co-founded by American feminist and activist Gloria Steinem, first appearing in 1971 as anMore insert in New York magazine. The first stand-alone issue appeared in January with funding from New York editor Clay Felker, and from July 1972 to 1987, it appeared on a monthly basis. During its heyday in the 1970s, Ms. enjoyed great popularity, but was not always able to reconcile its ideological concerns with commercial considerations. From 2001-2009, the magazine was published by the L.A.-based Feminist Majority Foundation, and since January of 2009, it has been published online.
