Rescue Dog of the Week: Calvin the Dachshund Mix

This pup was rescued from death row at the shelter.

Calvin is a 15-year-old male dachshund mix who was rescued from death row after being abandoned by his owner. He was in pretty bad shape—covered in ticks, very weak, dirty, matted, etc. But this pooch has cleaned up nicely, is up to date with his routine shots and already neutered. Despite his physical condition and being abandoned, Calvin doesn't hold a grudge. This pup is an absolute sweetheart, loves to snuggle, chew on bones, eat and sleep. He's great with other dogs and enjoys taking rides in the car. Calvin is looking for a forever home where he can retire and share all the love he has with a human companion.

Ace of Hearts is a 501c-3 dog rescue foundation dedicated to rescuing dogs—the day they are to be euthanized—from various Los Angeles shelters and placing them in loving homes. It does not take dogs in. It rescues only from shelters. Its adoption days are normally held every Saturday at the West Hollywood Petco at 508 N. Doheny Drive from 1-4 p.m. Click here for information on how to adopt a rescue dog from Ace of Hearts.
