Patch Volunteers for Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue

To celebrate the launch of Patch's 100th site, employees spent the day volunteering in their communities.

To commemorate the launch of our 100th site, Patch.com employees from across the country wanted to give back to the communities they serve with a day of volunteer work.

I helped out at Ace of Hearts, a Beverly Hills-based dog rescue organization that saves pups the day they are to be euthanized. An ardent dog lover and owner of a rescued beagle, I couldn't think of anything I'd rather do for this day of service than take Ace's pups out for a stroll in the fresh air.

You may remember Ace of Hearts from BH Patch's Rescue Dog of the Week post. Every Sunday we feature a new pooch that needs a foster or permanent home. Many of these dogs were saved from terrible shelter conditions and need nothing more than the TLC of a human companion. Most of Ace of Hearts' dogs are already fixed and housebroken.

Other Patchers (aka Patch employees) spent their day walking, washing and poop scooping for Ace of Hearts as well. Check out the photos and consider volunteering in the community before summer is out and the school year begins!

Ace of Hearts is a 501c-3 dog rescue foundation dedicated to rescuing dogs—the day they are to be euthanized—from various Los Angeles shelters and placing them in loving homes. It does not take dogs in. It rescues only from shelters. Its adoption days are normally held every Saturday at the West Hollywood Petco at 508 N. Doheny Drive from 1-4 p.m. Click here for information on how to adopt a rescue dog from Ace of Hearts.
