Help Out for Big Sunday Weekend

A variety of community service projects still have openings for Beverly Hills volunteers.

A huge effort to help spruce up the greater Los Angeles area and spread goodwill is planned for this weekend and it's not too late to join.

Round up your family, your neighbors or co-workers for Big Sunday Weekend. The annual community service event is in its 14th year.

In Beverly Hills, volunteers are being organized at , 8844 Burton Way, from 9 -11 a.m. Among the activities planned by the synagogue are creating baby bundles for the Exceptional Children's Foundation, a book drive for a local charity, making sandwiches for the Midnight Mission and making cards for Israeli soldiers.

Can't commit a chunk of your weekend to a project?

Head to University Synagogue at 11960 Sunset Blvd. in Brentwood from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m to make a donation. It's a collection site for new and gently-used clothing, adult and children’s books, DVDs, E-waste (computers, TVs, printers, etc) travel-size toiletries, cardboard boxes and packing tape.
