In anticipation of August’s PickleFest, Nate‘n Al will be at the Farmers’ Market this Sunday, July 13, teaching kids how to make a perfect pickle and sponsoring games including a pickle bean bag toss.

"The Beverly Hills PickleFest is great fun for the whole family and our Beverly Hills community," said David Mendelson, third generation co-owner. "My brother Mark and I are excited to be invited to be part of this wonderful Beverly Hills Farmers’ Market event for the second year and look forward to sharing our delicious Nate’n Al pickles with everyone."

The free event features entertainment, family-friendly fun, crafts, and a sour-puckering contest for the “Best Dill Pickle” in Beverly Hills. Additionally, there is a category called “I Can Pickle That!” where entrants can compete with any pickled fruit or vegetable grown in California.

“Pickles are really something special as is the art of preserving and fermenting them,” commented Beverly Hills Farmers’ Market Manager Greta Dunlap. “For 20 years, the Beverly Hills Farmers’ Market has provided farm fresh food to shoppers so it was a natural to fit to add a sour puckering punch to a commonly used vegetable. Last year’s inaugural PickleFest was a great success so we’re very excited to see what contestants have in store for the judges.”

Prizes ranging from $200, $100, $75, and $50 gift cards to Nate‘n Al will be awarded to the top homemade-pickle winners by a panel of distinguished and food-celebrity judges featuring an expert member of the Nate‘n Al Deli staff. For a complete list of rules or to submit an application for the best pickled produce, visitwww.beverlyhills.org/Pickle. The deadline to enter is Sunday, July 20.
