Held every four years, the Maccabi World Games is the world’s third largest international sporting competition featuring more than 7,000 athletes (Juniors, Open & Masters divisions) from some 60 countries.

Taking their place alongside athletes from across the globe at the 19th Maccabi World Games to be held in 2013 are three local women who qualified for the Masters division in tennis.

Rochelle Maize is a Beverly Hills resident. She works at Nourmand & Associates and has consistently been voted one of Beverly Hills’ top realtors.

Local tennis pro Holly Cohen is the general manager and head pro at the La Cienega Tennis Center in Beverly Hills. Holly is also head of the Beverly Hills Tennis Camp.

Suzee Markowitz lives in Beverly Hills and manages her family restaurant, Factors Famous Deli—a longtime favorite of Beverly Hills residents.

The 19th Maccabiah Games will be held in Israel from July 17-30, 2013, with the Opening Ceremony taking place on July 18 in Jerusalem.

Notable former Maccabi Games athletes include tennis gold medalists Allen Fox and Brad Gilbert, as well as Olympic swimmer Jason Lezak, gymnast Aly Raisman and Australian track star Steven Soloman.
