BHHS Alum Spencer Paysinger Hurt in Oregon Win

The senior linebacker whose dad coaches the Norman football team sits out the second half of Saturday's game with an undisclosed injury.

University of Oregon senior linebacker Spencer Paysinger, a 2006 Beverly Hills High School graduate, played the first half of Saturday's game against Portland State before leaving the field with an undisclosed injury, according to media reports.

Even with Paysinger on the sideline wearing street clothes for the second half, Oregon blew out the Vikings, a non-league opponent, with a 69-0 win. The Ducks are now 3-0 for the season.

The Eugene Register-Guard reported that Paysinger's status remains uncertain as Oregon travels to Arizona State—2-1 after falling to Wisconsin 20-19—to open Pac-10 play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Ducks outscored New Mexico, Tennessee and Portland State in the season's first three matchups 189-13. The team's shutouts against both New Mexico and Portland State mark the first time Oregon has blanked two opponents in the same season since 1964.

Paysinger has seven tackles and one sack so far this year. His father, Donald Paysinger, is BHHS football's head coach.
