Former El Rodeo Eagle Lands in Prague

El Rodeo alum Brian Salcido signs with Czech hockey team.

In 1999, Brian Salcido graduated from El Rodeo in Beverly Hills. Now a decade later, the former Anaheim Ducks prospect is heading overseas to play professional hockey in the Czech Republic, according to media reports.

EuroHockey.net reported that the 6-foot 2-inch, 190-pound Salcido is joining HC Sparta Prague. He is already on the roster of HC Sparta's official website.

Before heading to Europe, Salcido had been in the Ducks' system since his 2005, fifth-round draft out of Colorado College. The left-handed defenseman made his NHL debut with the Ducks in the 2008-09 season and became the first born-and-trained Southern Californian to play for the team.

Salcido's father, Frank, is a retired captain with the Beverly Hills Police Department. Born in Hermosa Beach, Salcido relocated to Beverly Hills after his family's home was damaged in the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. After graduating from El Rodeo, he attended high school in Minnesota.
