Former Beverly Athletes Find Collegiate Success

BHHS sports programs are preparing athletes for the next level of competition.

In preparation for the fall sports season, Patch has been showcasing outstanding Beverly athletes who are gearing up for their senior year with aspirations of competing at the collegiate level.

With the likes of Greg Townsend Jr. and A.J. Fortier playing for the Normans, the BHHS athletic program will continue its legacy of producing college sports stars. Here are some alumni who've gone on to play after high school:

- Spencer Paysinger (BHHS 2006)—A Preseason All-Pac-10 second team choice by Phil Steele Publications, Paysinger is one of the top linebackers on Oregon's football team. In 2009, he had nine tackles in Oregon's loss to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. He finished the 2009 season tied as the team's second-leading tackler (81). Paysinger has been named to the 2009 All-Pac-10 Honorable Mention team and was a 2nd Team All-Pac-10 selection in 2008 by Rivals.com.

- Tova Hausman (BHHS, 2006)—Hausman was an honorable mention in the 2010 Big West Women's Tennis All-Conference team as a junior at University of California, Santa Barbara. Hausman played the majority of her matches at the No. 5 position, but her strong play propelled her as high as No. 3 down the stretch, where she finished 4-0. She also made limited appearances at the No. 4 and No. 6 slots, and ended the season with an impressive dual match record of 14-3, including victories in her last 12 matches. She also teamed with Sofia Novak to finish 6-2 in doubles.

He played the last 10 games of the 2009 season and started four of the final five games. Sandifer was fourth on the team in receptions (26) and receiving yards (298). His first career catch was for six yards at Air Force. Sandifer's first career touchdown (33-yarder) came at Colorado State. He set his career bests with seven receptions and 74 yards at Utah, including a 17-yd TD grab.

- Ramon Judkins (BHHS 2008)—After leaving the San Diego State football team in Sept. 2009, Judkins landed at Grossmont College in El Cajon and played both linebacker and running back for the Griffins. As a senior at Beverly Hills High School, Judkins had 198 carries for 1,248 yards (6.3 ypc.) and 15 touchdowns. He also ran for 279 yards and three scores in a victory over Santa Monica in 2007. He was an all-Ocean League honoree his final three seasons at Beverly.
