Beverly Hills Players Lose at Ojai Tournament

The Normans drop CIF singles and doubles matches; Ho is still alive in Pac-10 draws.

The 111th Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament got underway Thursday in Ventura County and Beverly Hills High players participated in the high school division. 

In the CIF singles draw, the Normans'  lost to Jack McCullers of Mission Hills, 6-1, 6-0, in the first round at Thacher School.

In the CIF doubles draw, the Norman duo of and won its first-round match against Thacher's Mackenzie Combs and Jesse Garrett, 6-0, 6-1. In the second round Thursday afternoon, the Beverly Hills tandem fell, 6-4, 6-3, to Donnie Howren and Ryan Mariano of San Clemente.

In the boys 14s division, Beverly Hills resident lost in the first round to Henry Lasoya of Los Angeles, 1-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2, at Matilija Junior High School. 

In the Pacific 10 Conference Invitational singles division, 2010 Beverly Hills High graduate , now a freshman at Stanford University, had a bye in the first round and will play UCLA's Warren Hardie in the quarterfinals Friday at noon at Libbey Park South.

Ho and doubles partner Walker Kehrer are also in the Pac-10 Invitational doubles draw and have earned a bye into Saturday's semifinals, where they will play either Marton Bots and and Matt Stith of Washington or Katsarov Bozhidar and Riki McLachlan of California at 2 p.m. at Libbey Park. 

The Pac-10 Invitational singles final is Sunday at a 8 a.m., and the doubles final follows at 11 a.m., at Libbey park.
