Beverly Hills Girls Hoops Routs Taft

Brittany Pourmorady nets a season-high 21 points in the Normans' 58-43 victory.

There seemed to be no stopping Beverly Hills High School’s Brittany Pourmorady in Saturday's intersectional girls basketball game against Woodland Hills' Taft. The Normans' senior forward scored a season-high 21 points to lead her team to a 58-43 victory in the Santa Monica Westside Challenge at Santa Monica High.
 
Chelsea Austin added 18 points, wih eight rebounds, five blocks and three assists. Natalie Moy had seven points and six assists and Tiffany Haney added four points and 10 rebounds for the Normans (12-12), who led 20-11 through eight minutes. The Normans outtscored their City Section opponents 33-27 in the second half.
 
It was the 10th loss in 12 games for the Woodland Hills Toreadors (5-12), who reached the semifinals of the City Division I playoffs and made the state tournament last season.

In the feature game of Saturday's all-day showcase, host Santa Monica lost 61-54 to La Jolla Country Day School.  

The Normans continue Ocean League play at Inglewood Morningside on Wednesday before hosting Santa Monica at 6 pm this Friday.
