Voters who move into their residence after Oct. 24 have until Nov. 1 to register, but they must bring their application in person to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s (LACRR) office in Norwalk.

For those worried they will be unable to get to the polls on Nov. 8, the LACRR office will begin issuing absentee (vote-by-mail) ballots on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Voters may request an absentee ballot here. Applications must be received by Nov. 1.

“Choosing to vote by mail is an option available to all registered voters and allows them to participate in the democratic process without going to their polling location,” Los Angeles County Clerk Dean Logan said in a statement.

If you forget to mail your absentee ballot, it may be delivered in person to any polling place in Los Angeles County before the polls close at 8 p.m.

Registered voters should have received their official sample ballot and voting instructions last week. A postage-paid, vote-by-mail application is printed on the back cover. There is a box to check for those who want permanent vote-by-mail status.

The inside front cover of the sample ballot gives detailed instructions on how to vote on election day. The first page of the booklet describes how to vote for a person not listed on the ballot. Those who plan to vote for write-in candidate Noah Margo should read this page closely.
