Beverly Hills Forum with David J. Blumberg

On Monday, April 9, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. The City of Beverly Hills presents David J. Blumberg, Managing Partner of Blumberg Capital, giving a talk  titled “The Israeli Tech Miracle: Origins, Trends & Future Implications,” about the rapidly expanding tech sector in Israel. Part of the Beverly Hills’ Forum Series, the lecture will take place in the Council Chambers at Beverly Hills City Hall (455 North Rexford Drive, Beverly Hills, CA). The Israeli tech explosion was evidenced in Southern California recently when Israeli President Shimon Peres went on a well-publicized tour of Silicon Valley that included stops at Google, Facebook and IBM. Blumberg—who has been investing in early stage technology companies for more than 24 years—will explore the origins, trends and implications of the tech-based driving force of Israel’s current economy. Israel has always had a highly educated work force, but from the 1900s on the tech sector has grown rapidly to become a world leader on a per capita basis. The origins of this rapid growth include a high national investment in research and development, unique military training of future technology entrepreneurs and close ties with leading American technology giants. The growth bodes well for Israeli economic and national security but uncertainties still lie ahead. Blumberg’s current investment focus includes digital media, social media, mobility, SaaS/technology enabled services and internet. Prior to founding Blumberg Capital in 1991, he managed technology investments with Claridge Investments, Adler & Co., Apax and T. Rowe Price Associates. Blumberg earned his AB in Government from Harvard College and his MBA from Stanford. For additional information please contact 310-285-6830 or visit www.beverlyhills.org. This event is free of charge and open to the public. Free parking is available in the Civic Center parking structure.
