BHHS Soccer Coach Dies Off Campus

The man's identity is being withheld in accordance with his family's wishes. Counselors are at BHHS again today.

A man who coached boys soccer at Beverly Hills High School died overnight Tuesday or early Wednesday morning.

Counselors from The Maple Counseling Center and Chiron Center, Inc. were at the BHHS campus Wednesday to help students and staff grieve. 

Beverly Hills Unified School District Superintendent Gary Woods confirmed the death to Patch. He said the district would not publicly identify the man or provide details about his death in accordance with the wishes of the deceased man's family.

“The family has asked us to respect their privacy at this time. We have notified the students and staff but will likely not release an official district statement,” Woods said in an email.

Reports have come in that the deceased coach was 30 years old.

The tragedy comes a little more than a year after a BHHS sophomore died on campus.
