Traffic Alert: Expect Delays on Rexford Drive

Construction in front of the Civic Center kicks off this week and should last until mid-May.

From a city of Beverly Hills press release.

Construction along Rexford Drive, in front of the Beverly Hills Public Library and Civic Center parking structure, kicks off this week and will continue through mid-May 2014. Motorists should expect delays when traveling through the construction area.

In an effort to improve safety, traffic flow and landscaping, the Rexford project will remove the circular planter in front of the Civic Center parking lot and create a “T” intersection in this location. This work will allow for crosswalks on both sides of the street, reduce the number of stop signs and improve driver visibility of pedestrians.

Traffic lanes on Rexford Drive will remain open at all times, although, the Rexford entrance to the parking structure will be closed for much of the project. As a result, Library and City Hall patrons will be redirected to the parking structure entrance located on Civic Center Drive. Flyers, banners and directional signage will be posted for visitors.

On Sunday, March 16, the Civic Center structure will be completely closed to the public until 3:00 p.m. Parking for Farmers’ Market and Library patrons will be available all day at the Foothill and Third Street lot, located at 9333 W. Third Street.
