Public Works Facility Opens on Third Street

The new Beverly Hills public works warehouse and yard replaces the city's space at the northwest corner of Foothill Road and Third Street.

The city celebrated its the ribbon-cutting of its new two-story, 20,000-square-foot Public Works warehouse at 9357 W. Third St. on Tuesday.

Approved in July 2012 by the city council, the facility is slated to provide efficient storage inside and outside for materials compared to its 60,000-square-foot space previous used at the northwest corner of Foothill Road and Third Street. The new facility also includes offices.

The Public Works department's emergency operations center will be headquartered there, as well as the storage of engineering documents, offices and unassigned future space for city uses.

The total construction costs are approximately $8.4 million and a contingency is nearly $400,500.
