Other facts
Under the new California redistricting map, I am now running to represent several new areas of Southern California, including the coastal areas of Venice south to the Palos Verdes Peninsula. I also retain many wonderful areas of my current district, such as Agoura, Calabasas, Malibu, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and West Los Angeles. While the geography of the district I am running in has changed, my commitment to fairness and fighting for tangible improvements in people's lives remains unwavering. I am proud to have made a real difference in the quality of life for all Americans: Helping pass the Affordable Care Act, which ensures that millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions cannot be denied insurance coverage; Forcing the big tobacco companies to stop marketing to kids and directing the Food and Drug Administration to regulate tobacco products; Strengthening the Clean Air and Safe Drinking Water Acts, laws that have significantly reduced air pollution and given us one of the cleanest water sources in the world; and Requiring nutritional and safety labeling on foods, and improving the safety of our nation's food supply. I look forward to fighting with you to build a better future.

I have asthma and cannot afford health care. I relied on Primatene Mist as my lifeline. Since the FDA's decision to remove Primatene Mist from the American public's pharmacy shelves, my life has drastically changed. I no longer can go outside and enjoy life. I have to stay inside in a temperature controlled environment because I can't breath during certain temperature changes. I cannot move around freely because I can't breath and have nothing to rely on to help me since the removal of Primatene Mist from the U.S. market. I have not been able to work because I cannot find any way to get to and from a job without going outside and no longer have my inhaler to help me along the way. My question to you, since I didn't get a voice prior to the removal of my lifeline, is why on earth wouldn't the remaining units be put back on the shelves when they are going to be destroyed and "harm" the ozone layer anyway? Asthma patients are people too and they have the right to breathe just as much as anyone else in society. Why not help us? Thank you, Lauri Smith
Oh, but if it makes you feel better he did support the SPAM reduction act....so I guess that is something, eh? I mean hells bells - that's important!
In the meantime - know this: Waxman is against the sale of OTC asthma inhalers. There are over 3 million people in this country that suffer from asthma every day. Due to the removal of the OTC inhalers, people have died! But true to form, Waxman contradicts himself again. When asked about the energy package he stated. “....Some of these pollutants do harm, and they may even lead to fatalities...." So which is it? Some avoidable deaths are more important that others? Who is he to make a judgement like that? I think Moe Lane said it best “....Surely there’s something going on with the plastic surgery or exotic pet industry that Waxman could involve himself in, and thus please his core constituency…”
And BTW - just for future reference....that IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE COUNTRY TODAY! People that only support what they care about! I guess things could be worse.....you could be in Washington, DC. Egads!
I wish Waxman had pursued members of his own party with the same assiduousness. After 19 green tech companies have gone bankrupt, taking down billions of taxpayer dollars, Waxman merely mentions: “I’m sorry!” The expansion and expense of government power will inevitably breed corruption, waste, and fraud, yet what else can we hope for if a liberal legislator who “loves to legislate”, who sees nothing wrong with expanding government power into healthcare and environmentalism? From ignorance about this country's steroid laws, to the billions that this country has lost on federal loan guarantees, to his blatant indifference to the national debt, Mr. Waxman's former “victories” over Big Tobacco, Big Food or Big Iraq do not compensate for his repeated failures to stay informed and stay involved in the needs of his constituents. On Nov. 6, end the reign of Congressman Henry Waxman.
