Framing Completed on New Roxbury Park Community Center

Field work is almost ready to go out to bid for the new community center in Beverly Hills.

The new community center in Beverly Hills' Roxbury Park is truly taking shape in the last month, with framing for the main part of the building completed in the last month.

The project is still on schedule for a June or July 2014 completion, says Nancy Hunt-Coffey, assistant directory of community services and city librarian.

The new center will feature outdoor seating, a patio and a basketball court and tennis area, and the interior will feature a library, kitchen, meeting rooms, exercise studio and auditorium with stage.

"Over the next couple of weeks we'll start framing walls themselves and start putting on the building foundation," she said, noting on Sept. 20 they were already waterproofing.

Hunt-Coffey said there are three smaller components on the on the park proper, such as redoing the sports fields, replacing the playground equipment and building new restrooms.

"The field work is almost ready to go out to bid, so we don't have a contractor yet," she said. "We're waiting for soccer seasons to finish out so we can dig up the fields."

The playgrounds and restrooms should come along over the next two months, Hunt-Coffey added.
