Council Recognizes Concern II Volunteers

The research organization raises money to support the fight against children's cancer.

Several volunteer members of Concern II, a nonprofit cancer research foundation, were honored by City Council Feb. 21 for helping raise awareness and funding in support of children's cancer research.

Created in 1981 as part of the Concern Foundation, Concern II has raised and donated more than $2.7 million towards research focusing on pediatric cancer. The organization also provided funding for the establishment of the brain tumor laboratory at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.

Since 1968, Concern Foundation has raised more than $45 million for cancer research. About 95 cents of every dollar donated goes directly towards research.
