City Council honored outgoing Design Review Commissioner Howard Szabo at Tuesday's formal meeting for his six years of service on the panel.
"You've done a marvelous job with protecting the interests of our city," Councilman Barry Brucker said when presenting Szabo with a plaque.
Szabo was appointed to the commission in 2006. He served as vice chairman in 2007-8, and chairman in 2008-9 and 2011-12.
In accepting his award, Szabo thanked city staff liaisons and his fellow commissioners, asking them to "Keep up the good fight."
The Design Review Commission is tasked with reviewing proposed single-family residential development in Beverly Hills, ensuring that the size and style of designs do not depreciate a neighborhood's character.
