Construction Should Begin Next Week on New Roxbury Park Community Center

The Beverly Hills City Council accepts the bids needed to go forward at its Tuesday meeting.

Construction is slated to begin next week on a new community center in Beverly Hills' Roxbury Park, according to a release from the city's Office of Communications.

The Beverly Hill City Council accepted a slate of bids on various contracts related to building the $10.16 million structure at its May 7 formal meeting, making way for this next stage.

Construction is expected to last about a year, according to a city press release.

 “Seniors, youth groups and families will all have a modern facility, with upgraded fields that will serve them for decades to come, said Mayor John Mirisch in a statement. "Importantly, it allows the character of one of our signature parks to be retained.”

The new center features an outdoor seating, a patio and a basketball court and tennis area.

The interior features a library, kitchen, meeting rooms, exercise studio and auditorium with stage.

As previously reported, Roxbury Park classes have been relocated to other city facilities.
