City to Showcase Community Services

Attendees at the event this weekend get discounts on 2013 camps and classes.

The following is a press release from the city of Beverly Hills.

New in 2013, the City of Beverly Hills’ Community Services Department will host a Showcase at the Farmers’ Market on Sunday, March 3 from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. All the programs and services offered by the Community Services Department and Recreation and Parks Division will be highlighted and discounts will be offered to patrons who register on-site for spring and summer classes and camps. (The Farmers’ Market is located on the 9300 block of Civic Center Drive.)

Beverly Hills Unified School District has a shortened 2013 summer and the Community Services Department has designed a comprehensive schedule of unique and popular summer camps to accommodate the new schedule. Summer camp brochures for summer 2013 will debut at the Showcase, which will feature: craft projects; storytelling by librarians from the beautiful new Children’s Library; youth and adult class performances including ballet/tap, cheerleading and Flamenco; a puppet show; and, the chance to test your sports skills with camp leaders from Bevwood Basketball, Brit West Soccer, Got Game Basketball and AK Soccer Academy. A petting zoo and pony rides will be available for a nominal fee and the full line-up of Farmers’ Market vendors will be selling fresh produce, artisan goods and prepared foods.

The Showcase also has a couple big perks for attendees. Anyone who registers and pays for a summer camp at the Showcase will receive a $20 discount per camp. Anyone who registers and pays for a spring recreation class at the Showcase will receive $10 off every $50 spent on classes. (Some restrictions may apply.) Additionally, anyone who stops by the main booth to scan a QR code into a SmartPhone and then “Like” Beverly Hills Recreation and Parks on Facebook will receive one farm-fresh apple from one of our Farmers’ Market vendors.

Human Services and the Park Rangers will also be at the Showcase to educate patrons about services and encourage entries into the Embrace Civility Anti-Bullying PSA Contest currently being sponsored by the Human Relations Commission.
