Until now these meetings have only been available after the meetings end.

“Often the earliest discussions about important City issues take place in commission meetings and most people are unable to attend the meetings themselves," said Mayor John Mirisch, who made government transparency a touchstone of his election campaign.

"With the live broadcasts, citizens can know what is happening in real time, in addition to being able to view the meetings later on-demand, on-line at their convenience.”

The city's important Planning Commission kicks off the effort at on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
