Beverly Hills to Live Stream All Commission Meetings Starting Tuesday

The city says it is part of its efforts to improve transparency.

Open government will go to the next level starting this Tuesday in Beverly Hills.

Now meetings of Beverly Hills' eleven commissions will be live streamed.

City Council meetings already are streamed live to all interested parties via the city's Web site.

(See that link here.)

Until now these meetings have only been available after the meetings end.

“Often the earliest discussions about important City issues take place in commission meetings and most people are unable to attend the meetings themselves," said Mayor John Mirisch, who made government transparency a touchstone of his election campaign.

"With the live broadcasts, citizens can know what is happening in real time, in addition to being able to view the meetings later on-demand, on-line at their convenience.”

The city's important Planning Commission kicks off the effort at on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
