City Rates High When It Comes to Structural Safety

Beverly Hills' Development Services Division receives an Insurance Services Office Class 1 rating.

Beverly Hills was recently awarded the highest rating for structural safety.

The city's Development Services Division received an Insurance Services Office (ISO) Class 1 rating, which means the city "maintains the highest standards for structural safety in the nation and reduces insurance costs to Beverly Hills taxpayers," according to a news release.

A representative from ISO gave the City Council a plaque during Tuesday's meeting. This is the second time the city has been given the rating.

"The city is committed to protecting our residents, businesses and visitors and this recognition is one further example of our focus on safety," said Community Development Director Susan Healy Keene in a statement. "The Class 1 rating illustrates that the city is doing its very best to minimize the potential harm from natural hazards, such as earthquakes, fires and floods."

The rating, compiled every five years, is used to determine property insurance premiums.
