City and Schools Gets Ready for Great ShakeOut

Beverly Hills will participate in the annual earthquake drill at 10:18 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18.

The city of Beverly Hills and the Beverly Hills Unified School District are joining cities and schools across California in the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill at 10:18 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18.

At that time, city employees, and BHUSD employees and students, will react as if an earthquake has just occurred. Those visiting city buildings during the drill will also be directed to participate as well. The ShakeOut will last about two minutes.

California is a high-risk earthquake area. The city encourages residents and businesses to plan ahead for emergency situations. Whether you're at home, at work, at school or just out and about, make sure you "Drop, Cover and Hold On" during earthquakes: drop to the floor, take cover under a sturdy desk or table, and hold on to it firmly.
