Beverly Hills Pilot Bike Project to Begin With Installation of Two Routes

The routes will be installed on Burton Way and North Crescent Drive beginning June 24.

The installation of two bike routes in Beverly Hills will begin this month as part of a one-year pilot bike project approved by the City Council last year.

The routes will be installed on Burton Way and North Crescent Drive beginning June 24. The roads will be restriped and bike route signs will be posted during construction, which is expected to last until July 3, according to the city.

The Burton Way lane will be installed "on both sides of Burton Way between North Crescent Drive and the east city limits," according to a city news release.

The six-foot wide bike lane, consisting of two travel lanes in each direction, will be installed next to the existing parking lane. The bike lane’s eastern end will connect with bike routes in Los Angeles.

Both sides of North Crescent Drive will get a "combined bike lane and bike route" between Wilshire and Sunset boulevards, according to the release.

The striped bike lane starts at Park Way and continues north to Sunset Boulevard. The bike route with sharrow markings is on Crescent between Wilshire Boulevard and Park Way.

The city plans to monitor the routes over the next year. It will also install bike racks in the business district.
