Suspect at Large After Beverly Hills Police Chase

The man abandoned his stolen car in Coldwater Canyon and fled into the Hollywood Hills.

Beverly Hills police were led on a chase by a man in a stolen Toyota, who then abandoned the car in Coldwater Canyon and disappeared into the Hollywood Hills, police said Saturday.

The chase began around 7:30 p.m. Saturday near North Beverly Drive and Elevado Avenue and ended a few minutes later on Coldwater Canyon Drive at Cherokee Lane, Beverly Hills police Lt. Lincoln Hoshino said.

Beverly Hills police, sheriff's deputies and Los Angeles police, working with dogs, searched for the man until after midnight but made no arrests.

"We think he's in a yard," Hoshino said. "It's a heavily wooded area."

No information was made available about when or where the car was stolen.

At 8:33 p.m. Saturday, Beverly Hills Patch received an email about police activity taking place in the Coldwater Canyon area:

Helicopter circling cold water 90210 loud speaker says "put down your weapons and come out". Going on for about an hour! [sic]

Patch is working to confirm if the tip is related to the car chase incident.
