Support the BHFD Toy Drive

City firefighters are collecting toys and sporting goods for children in need.

The , along with other firefighters in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties, are taking part in the “Spark of Love Toy Drive” sponsored by ABC7.

“Anybody can drop off a new, unwrapped toy or sporting good to any fire station in Southern California,” BHFD Capt. Scott Stephens said. “The [donation] boxes that we have are about the size of a refrigerator box. We empty them out probably 20 times during the season.”

Drop-off locations in Beverly Hills include all three city fire stations—445 N. Rexford Drive, 1100 Coldwater Canyon Drive, 180 S. Doheny Drive—as well as Douglas Emmett Management at 9601 Wilshire Blvd. Donated goods are loaded onto fire trucks and delivered to sick and needy children by SoCal firefighters on Christmas Day.

“We make a visit to the pediatric ward at Cedar Sinai Hospital and also later in the day, the UCLA Medical Center,” Stephens said of BHFD firefighters. “Then we end up with a big surplus of toys and they’re donated to the Los Angeles County Child Protection Services.”

This is the 19th consecutive year that local firefighters are participating in the regional toy drive. Donations are accepted from now until Christmas morning.
