Stabbing Suspect to be Arraigned Today in Beverly Hills

One of the suspects accused in the stabbing death of a movie producer's son will be arraigned today in Beverly Hills.
Scott Joseph Barker, 23, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning, according to media reports. As Patch reported July 22, Barker and his girlfriend, Chie Alexandra Coggins Johnson, 20, are facing murder charges in the stabbing death of Katsutoshi Tony Takazato, 21.

Takazato was found dead at about 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, outside his home in the 1800 block of Carla Ridge in the Trousdale Estates area of Beverly Hills.
In a press release, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said Barker allegedly became enraged after Johnson told him that Takazato, who she used to date, had physically abused her.

The Beverly Hills Police Department arrested a third person, who was released after the investigation concluded he wasn't involved in the slaying, according to Deputy District Attorney Danette Meyers.
Baker and Johnson face life in prison if convicted. Takazato is the son of filmmaker Fuminori Hayashida, who produced several movies in the 1990s, including Lured Innocence starring Dennis Hopper.
