Shot Fired in Attempted Beverly Hills Robbery Early Thursday

No one was injured and the alleged suspect got away.

A shot was fired during an attempted robbery in Beverly Hills Thursday morning, but no one was struck and the gunman got away, police said.

The Beverly Hills Police Department was called around 12:45 a.m. to 309 S. Doheny Drive, where a gunman fired one shot at someone during the robbery attempt, Beverly Hills police Sgt. Todd Withers told news photographers at the scene.

The robbery target, a man, was not injured, he said. Officers searched the area but did not find the gunman, Withers said.

"It appears to be a crime of opportunity," he said.

The suspect was described as a black male, between 25 and 30 years old, wearing a dark gray hoodie and a red bandana over his face.

I agree Alex, it could put others in the area at risk, not too mention others at that building.

I had a guy try to rob me a about a month ago on Santa Monica Boulevard in front of the Church of the Good Shepherd. I was sitting on the grass eating a Sprinkles cupcake when a guy tried to snatch my camera bag. I pulled it away from him and he then tried for it again. I had a glass bottle (green tea) with me and told him it was going in his face if he took another step. He just stood there after that and then I took a step toward him. He backed away but I kept looking at him until he left. I left, but kept an eye on him. That was the first time anything like that ever happened to me. Beverly Hills is getting a bit unsafe anymore. I never saw it this bad.

I think it's a good idea to show the address. This way residents in an area can see what's happening and keep an eye out. It's better to be informed then not. The crooks already know were they were and they most likely don't read the patch anyway or read the news at all.

Hey Alex and Amy, The above address is for a multi-family residence a few blocks southeast of Beverly Vista School. It's located on a fairly busy part of the road. Also, the victim is not necessary a resident of that address. It's only reported as the location of the alleged crime. In this case, I felt confident that the full address should be reported. Best, Marie

I am from around here and did not think that this area is starting to be a little unsafe . I guess we have to be prepared coz this crooks are using guns nowadays. We just need to be more aware and ready for anything that can happen. It's gonna be his gun against mine!!!!!!!

Oh no! Did you call the police?

Joe, I agree. It's very safe as safe as ever if not more so now. They have cameras all over the BHPD access them on iPads. They will find you if they want too. They are a very tech savvy PD. Everyone forget last year how someone in BH got robbed and the BHPD staked out the guys and arrested them all in South L.A. and another city. That crime would have been forgotten anywhere else. Things happen from time to time everywhere. Given the population of the city and basically being in the middle of Los Angeles there are vast area's like North of Santa that has little or no crime. All in all pretty awesome and amazingly safe and absolutely fabulous place to live.
