Restraining Order for Man who Claims He's Taylor Swift's Husband Extended 3 Years

The 24-year-old had claimed they lived in Beverly Hills together and that he would carry a gun to protect her.

A judge today granted a three-year extension of a restraining order on behalf of Taylor Swift against a man who allegedly claimed he was the 24-year-old entertainer's husband.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Carol Boas Goodson issued the order against Timothy Sweet. The directive is effective until March 25, 2017, and orders him to stay at least 100 yards away from Swift as well as from her mother and father.

Sweet also is forbidden from contacting Swift through any electronic means and from coming near her homes and her record label, Big Machine Records.

Goodson said no one, celebrity or otherwise, should be subjected to the kinds of threats Sweet allegedly made against Swift. She said she was issuing the order with "no hesitation."

Sweet, 33, allegedly said he was married to Swift and would kill anyone who stands between them, including her family. He first began stalking the singer in January 2011, according Swift's court papers.

The country pop star obtained a temporary restraining order March 3 that was scheduled to expire today. She and Sweet were not present for today's hearing.

"My wife, Taylor Swift and I live in Beverly Hills," Sweet allegedly wrote in one message. "I am in love with her. In conclusion, we treat each other with dignity and respect. I will carry a gun to protect her the rest of my life."

Goodson said Swift's brother, who was included in the earlier temporary restraining order, would have to file his own stay-away request if he wants to continue to have the same protection as his sister and parents from Sweet.
