Police: Expect Traffic Delays for Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton

Streets around the Beverly Hilton will close Sunday, Jan. 12. Parking will also be restricted in Beverly Hills in that area.

The following message is supplied by the Beverly Hills Police Department:

On Sunday, Jan. 12, the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

In order to facilitate appropriate security for this event and to minimize the impact of traffic on adjacent residential streets, the following street closures and parking restrictions will be implemented:

Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed from Wilshire Boulevard to Century Park East on Sunday, Jan. 12 from 9 a.m. to midnight. The south roadway of Santa Monica Boulevard (“Little Santa Monica”) will remain open during this time.

Whittier Drive from Lomitas Avenue to Wilshire Boulevard will be closed to through traffic. Although closed to through traffic, residents who live on Whittier Drive, between Wilshire and Elevado Avenue, will be allowed vehicular access to their residences in the lane provided along the east curb. Police department personnel will be present at the location to assist and control traffic flow.

No parking will be allowed on Whittier Drive between Lomitas Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard. The No Parking restriction on Whittier Drive will be on Sunday, 1/12/14, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. No exemptions are allowed in this area.

Additionally, to minimize potential parking concerns to the surrounding residential streets, “No Parking” signs will be posted that restrict street parking on Sunday, Jan. 12, from 6 a.m. to midnight on the following streets:

• Elevado Drive – between Wilshire Boulevard and Walden Drive
• Trenton Drive – between Whittier Drive and Wilshire Boulevard
• Carmelita Avenue – between Wilshire Boulevard and Walden Drive
• Walden Drive – between Santa Monica Boulevard and Whittier Drive

For those residents without permit parking, you may call the city’s transportation department at (310) 285-2548 to obtain a parking exemption. To report any problems on the day of the event, the police department may be called at 310-550-4875.

Note: As no street parking will be allowed on Whittier, between Lomitas and Wilshire, no exemptions for street parking will be allowed on Whittier in this area.
