Police Catch Fleeing Vehicle Burglary Suspects

The following information was supplied by the Beverly Hills Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Beverly Hills police arrested a man and a woman Jan. 4 believed to be connected to several vehicle burglaries in the area, and when the suspects were caught they attempted to flee.

Arrested were Ivy Ewells, 28, of Lancaster, and Corandin Drake, 27, of Hawthorne.

At approximately 3 p.m. on Jan. 4, undercover surveillance officers were conducting crime suppression operations in the 400 block of N. Beverly Drive, when officers observed a suspect park his vehicle, leaving a female passenger behind as a lookout.

The suspect then pried the door lock of a black 2013 Cadillac Escalade gaining entry to the vehicle, and removed an iPad and returned to his getaway car.

The two suspects were surprised when they were met by numerous BHPD units as they attempted to flee.

A search of the suspect vehicle revealed property from several other crimes, and a follow up investigation by detective personnel lead to Drake's residence in Hawthorne where a search warrant was executed.

Hundreds of pieces of evidence from prior crimes were recovered. Although the investigation is ongoing, it is believed that the suspects have been involved in numerous vehicle burglaries in Beverly Hills and surrounding communities.
