Police Catch Burglary Suspect

A 30-year-old man is accused of illegally entering a Beverly Hills residence, startling a girl asleep in her bedroom.

The arrested a suspected burglar early Monday in the neighborhood just north of Sunset Boulevard.

Los Angeles resident Jason Morgan, 30, was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary and attempt residential burglary.

At approximately 3:15 a.m. Monday a young girl was awoken by an intruder opening her bedroom sliding glass door at a residence on the 800 block of Cord Circle. The suspect fled when he became aware of the girl's presence, police say. Breaking into a home, even if no items are taken, is considered residential burglary, according to BHPD Lt. Mark Rosen.

Police responded to the area to search for the fleeing suspect. During the next few hours, they also responded to alarm activations in the area and located two additional attempted burglaries, one on the 800 block of Loma Vista Drive and another on the 400 block of Doheny Road.

"We want to get the word out to the public that the suspect was caught and is in custody," Rosen told Patch. "The community is safe."

Officers also located and impounded a suspicious vehicle parked near the targeted homes that they believed to be the suspect's car.
