Police Blotter: Fake Repair Man, Stolen Purse and an Unlocked Door

Also, someone broke into a locked parking booth to steal some change.

This blotter set shows that even loose change can inspire a criminal mind.

Nickel and dimed

At about 2:45 a.m. on Oct. 3, change was stolen from a secured parking booth on the 300 block of South Beverly Drive. The male suspect, described as being about 40 years old, 5-feet 6-inches tall and weighing 200 pounds, forced open the booth's windows with his hands. A loss of $1 was reported.

Late-night purse snatch

Between 11 p.m. and midnight on Oct. 3, a woman was robbed on the 400 block of South Clark Drive. One man grabbed the victim's purse while another man placed his hand over her mouth. The victim reported a loss of $1,775.

Smashed car window

Between 1 and 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 4, a car was burglarized on the 100 block of North Hamilton Drive. Someone smashed the vehicle's front driver's window, removed property and fled. The victim reported a loss of $350.

Attempted forced entry

Shortly before 1 p.m. on Oct. 4, someone attempted to enter an apartment on the 200 block of North Crescent Drive. The male suspect—described as being about 35 years old, weighing 160 pounds with black hair—knocked on the victim's door claiming he needed to fix a water pipe in the apartment. He then attempted to force his way into the residence.

Come on in

Between 1 p.m. on Oct. 7 and 1 p.m. on Oct. 8, a residence was burglarized on the 100 block of North Oakhurst Drive. Someone entered the home via an unlocked door, removed property and fled. The victim reported a loss of $180.

Senior thief

At about 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 7, a woman was caught stealing merchandise from a store on the 9500 block of Wilshire Boulevard. The suspect, described as being about 71 years old, 5-feet 7-inches tall and weighing 140 pounds, selected $1,100 worth of goods, concealed them in a bag and left the store. She was then detained by security.

Sacre bleu!

Sometime during the day of Oct. 8, a home was broken into on the 200 block of South Le Doux Road. Someone cut open the screen of a kitchen window, entered the residence, ransacked multiple rooms, removed property and fled. The victim reported a loss of $190.
