Police Blotter: Currency Grab, Heater Cheater and Wallet Swipe

Also, more than $100,000 worth of property is stolen from a basement.

In this blotter set, doors are left unlocked and men are accused of assault.

Backdoor entry

Shortly after 11 p.m. on May 23, two people entered a business through an unlocked rear door on the 100 block of North La Cienega Boulevard. One suspect is described as being a 25-year-old male, 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. A female accompanied him. The duo went to the office safe, stole $5,000 worth of currency and then exited through the rear door of the building.

Pool fool

At 1 p.m. on May 25, someone attempted to steal a pool heater from a home on the 600 block of North Crescent Drive. The suspect was described as a 25-year-old male, 5-feet, 7-inches tall, weighing 135 pounds with black hair.

Body shot

At 11:15 a.m. on May 26, an assault occurred on the 100 block of North San Vicente Boulevard. The suspect was described as being a 50-year-old male, 5-feet, 6-inches tall with gray hair. The victim reported being struck in the chest with the inside of the suspect’s forearm.

Death threat

At 10:30 a.m. on May 28, an assault occurred on the 100 block of South Rexford Drive. A man described as being 65 years old, bald, 5-feet, 8-inches tall, weighing 200 pounds with brown eyes struck a man in the shoulder five times and threatened to kill him.

In the open

At about 9:30 p.m. on May 27, an unattended wallet was stolen on the 100 block of North La Cienega Boulevard. The victim reported a loss of $600.

Fail and flee

Between the morning of May 29 and the night of May 30, someone attempted to enter a safe in a home on the 400 block of North Doheny Drive. The unknown suspect unlocked the front door, entered the residence, broke the handle on the safe but fled after failing to gain access.

Patio access

Around noon on June 1, an apartment was burglarized on the 200 block of North Crescent Drive. Someone entered the home through an open rear patio door, removed property valued at $600 and fled.

Six figures

The night of June 3, a home was burglarized on the 300 block of South Camden Drive. Someone entered the location, pried open the basement door, removed property and fled. The victim reported a loss of $130,400.
