Update: Police Investigate Apparent Murder-Suicide Reported at Beverly Hilton

The deceased 70-year-old male and 56-year-old female are believed to have been long-term residents of the hotel, police said.

A man and woman were found fatally shot at the  from an alleged murder-suicide, police said.

The shooting was reported around 10:50 p.m. Friday. Officers who responded to the hotel at 9876 Wilshire Blvd. found "the bodies of a male, white, approximately 70 years of age and a female, white, approximately 56 years of age," Beverly Hills Lt. Mark Rosen said in a statement Saturday. Both were dead from gunshot wounds. The alleged shooter was not named.

"Positive identification of the deceased has not been determined as of this time and there has been no notification of next of kin. Both are believed to have been long-time residents of the hotel," Rosen said. 

A coroner's investigator was dispatched to pick up the bodies shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday, coroner's Lt. Larry Dietz said. Police had brought a mobile crime lab to the hotel at 1:15 a.m., according to a cameraman at the scene.

"There is no known connection" to the Daytime Emmy Awards event scheduled for Saturday at the Beverly Hilton, Rosen said in the statement.

BHPD detectives were still at the hotel as of Saturday afternoon while police continued their investigation, Beverly Hills Sgt. Blake Nance told Patch.

Residents reported hearing police helicopters around the Beverly Hilton at 11 p.m. Friday. It is the in February.
