More Body Parts Found Near Hollywood Sign

Two hands and two feet were located Wednesday, the day after a severed head was uncovered.

Los Angeles police discovered two hands and two feet Wednesday near the Hollywood Hills location where dog walkers found a  Tuesday.

"We're hoping we can find more remains," Los Angeles Police Department Commander Andrew Smith told the Los Angeles Times. He noted that wild animals may have moved some of the body parts.

The investigation was launched after two dog walkers discovered the severed head of an alleged homicide victim at Bronson Canyon Park Tuesday afternoon. The hikers had nine dogs on the trail when two of the dogs started playing with an object in a plastic bag. When the hikers realized it was a human head, they immediately notified park rangers.

LAPD officers think the head may have been discarded in the park within the past few days. Police are also checking local missing persons reports as part of the investigation.

"We believe the crime was committed somewhere other than here," Smith told a group of reporters Wednesday. Hikers and joggers were being turned away from the main gate of the park while authorities searched for body parts throughout the day.

Smith said most of the officers on the scene were from the LAPD Robbery Homicide Division. Police are not yet sure when the park will reopen, LAPD spokesman Bruce Borihanh said.

Phillip Lambert, a tourist from Switzerland, was staying with a friend who lives nearby and said he goes to the park whenever he visits Los Angeles. He wasn't surprised by the news of the crime scene.

"Things happen in a big town," Lambert said.

Police questioned people who live in the area on Wednesday, including Craig and Suzanne Dellinger. They said detectives asked about their trash and what day trash is collected.

"We've seen a lot here, but nothing like this," said Craig Dellinger, who has lived in the area for 20 years.

The Dellingers often walk their dog in the park. Suzanne Dellinger said the incident is alarming.

"It's weird. Creepy," she said.

Susan Moss walks in the park with her family every day. She said she was "very freaked out" by the discovery of body parts, but that she will continue to hike in Hollywood Hills.

"We're a good neighborhood," Moss said.
