A 29-year-old Los Angeles man was facing possible felony vandalism charges today after he allegedly smashed glasses, wine bottles and a television in a Beverly Hills restaurant while clad in boxer shorts and was then shocked with a stun gun by police, who arrested him as he ran in traffic on a city street.

Officers were called at 9:52 p.m. on Thursday to Enoteca Drago in the 400 block of North Canon Drive to investigate a report that a man was vandalizing property inside the restaurant, according to Beverly Hills police Lt. Renato Moreno. The suspect, half-dressed and wearing boxer shorts, threw glasses, broke wine bottles and smashed a television screen in the restaurant, witnesses and Enoteca Drago managing partner Steven Piano told CBS2.

"I'm guessing at least 50 bottles of wine were destroyed. There was two inches of wine on the wood floor," he told the station. "It's like, he was just quietly, calmly destroying property."

A foot chase ensued when officers arrived on scene, with the suspect, later identified as Kishane Karim Almendarez, running south on North Canon, Moreno said.

As he fled, Almendarez damaged the windshield of an occupied vehicle, Moreno said.

"As the suspect continued his violent actions, officers used a Taser device to gain physical control of him," he said.

Almendarez was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained during the vandalism, Moreno said.

He was released to hospital personnel and was scheduled to appear in court in Westchester on August 23, he said.

No officers or members of the public were injured, Moreno said.
