Update: Hearse Driver Found Dead Near Beverly Hills Hotel

The body of a female hearse driver was found near the 900 block of North Crescent Drive.

Here's the latest from the Beverly Hills Police Department, updated at 7:15 p.m.:

Beverly Hills police officers and Beverly Hills Fire Department paramedics responded at about 3 p.m. to the 900 block of North Crescent Drive on a report of a "man down" after a person was spotted slumped behind the wheel of a hearse. 

Upon arrival, a female hearse driver was discovered deceased in the driver's seat. The hearse was on duty and in the process of transporting an occupied casket. The driver's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

There does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A hearse driver who was transporting a body in a casket was found dead today inside the vehicle near the .

Police were called to the 900 block of North Crescent Drive, just north of Sunset Boulevard adjacent to the Beverly Hills Hotel, about 3 p.m., according to Lt. Lincoln Hoshino of the Beverly Hills Police Department.

Hoshino said police were initially told "a man was slumped" behind the wheel.

When paramedics arrived, they discovered the body was a woman. Her death was not believed to be suspicious. The lieutenant said he did not know if the body in the back of the hearse was being driven to a funeral. The name of the driver was not immediately released.
