Early Morning Sunset Boulevard Closure Related to Deputy-Involved Shooting

Two men are arrested Tuesday, with two others hospitalized, after a fight breaks out in nearby West Hollywood.

Two men are in custody Tuesday morning after allegedly driving into several pedestrians following a fight that started outside the  and ended with a deputy-involved shooting at Sunset Boulevard and North Doheny Drive.

Deputies responded to a fight call at 11:25 p.m. Monday at the club, located at 8901 Sunset Blvd. in nearby West Hollywood, Deputy Jeff Gordon of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau said. Two men were fighting outside the nightclub when several others joined in, kicking one man on the ground, according to a West Hollywood Sheriff's Station release.

Two suspects then entered a red SUV and drove away, striking two pedestrians as they fled the rear parking lot of the Whisky, according to the report. At least two people—the victim of the fight and a pedestrian hit—were hospitalized in critical condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

The driver continued westbound on Sunset Boulevard, turning north on Doheny Drive. At a traffic stop, he pointed a dark object at the pursuant police. A deputy fired one round from his pistol, according to the report. The suspect surrendered and both occupants of the vehicle were arrested. 

The driver, 20-year-old Eduardo Gomez, was arrested for driving under the influence and carrying a weapon. He is being held at the on $100,000 bail. The passenger, 18-year-old Jesus Gomez, is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail. 

The investigation is continuing. Sunset Boulevard was closed early Tuesday morning from Clark Street to Doheny Road. The area has opened and traffic was flowing as of 9 a.m.
