City of Beverly Hills to Fly Flags at Half-Staff to Honor Fallen LAPD Officer

City officials release a statement about this morning's accident.

The city of Beverly Hills extends its deepest condolences to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the City of Los Angeles and the families of today’s tragic accident. 

The accident resulted in one fatality, with two surviving victims who were transported to local medical facilities. The victims’ names have not been officially released at this time. The city also joins Los Angeles and is flying flags at half-staff to honor the deceased officer. 

“The city of Beverly Hills is committed to providing ongoing assistance towards the investigation. We share our heartfelt sympathy with everyone involved during this incredibly difficult time,” stated Mayor John Mirisch. 

The accident occurred within the Beverly Hills city limits at approximately 8 a.m. on Loma Vista Drive and Robert Lane. A southbound truck collided with a Hollywood Division LAPD patrol car which was responding to an unknown trouble call in the city of Los Angeles. 

Due to the ongoing investigation, the area surrounding Loma Vista (adjacent to Beverly Hills Greystone Park and Mansion) will be closed for the remainder of the day. Greystone Mansion will also remain closed today. Residents should plan their commutes accordingly. 

It is a multi-agency investigation which includes the Beverly Hills Police Department, Beverly Hills Fire Department, Los Angeles Police Department and the California Highway Patrol.
